What test scores do I
need for admission to a graduate degree program in Geological Sciences?
The class of 2007 had an average total GRE score of 1170 and 680
on the quantitative portion.
The minimum GRE score for application is a combined score of 1000 (Verbal and
quantitative) with a minimum of 550 on the
Quantitative portion.
An
applicant whose native language is not English is required to submit a
satisfactory score on the TOEFL or the IELTS Intl. Academic Course Type 2 exam.
The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is
80 (internet-based),
230 (computer-based),
or 570 (paper-based) or 6.5 on the ILETS.

What if my undergraduate
degree is not in Geology?
Our program and research
activities encompasses a number of scientific and engineering disciplines.
All graduates with good quantitative skills are welcome to apply.
The Admissions committee
considers all aspects of an applicant’s file including undergraduate and/or
graduate GPA, test scores (GRE, TOEFL if International), research experience,
letters of recommendation, a writing sample, future potential and motivation.
If accepted, a student may work with his/her advisor to design a program of
study to compensate for any lack of exposure.

The fastest and most convenient way to apply is online.
Make sure all documents in
support of your application are forwarded to the Graduate School including
transcripts, test scores and recommendations. Your application is not complete
until the Graduate School receives the application fee (by credit card online or
through the mail).
Send your Statement of
Purpose and a copy of your application directly to the Graduate Director.
Track the progress of your
application through the Graduate School.

How much is the
application fee? How do I pay it?
The
application fee is $50 payable online using a VISA, MasterCard or Discover
credit card when you apply. If you
choose to pay by check or
money order, please be sure to indicate your choice at the time you complete
your online
application. Print the
front page of your application (fee form) with the signature line. Include the
payment with your
supporting documents made
payable to:

7. Is proof of immunization required for
admission?
No, The University requires proof of immunization once as a
student has been accepted. Immunization requirements must be met on or before
the day of registration. See the
