From the Congaree National Park take highway 48 southeast (away from Columbia). Continue on 48 and it will merge with hiway 601. Turn right at the 48-601 junction and continue toward St. Matthews for about 10.1 miles. At WGS-84 GPS coordinate 33 41’ 08.03”N, 80 42’ 12.11”W (from Google Earth) you will see a broad brick gate painted white and partially covered with vegetation, and a “SEFOP” sign indicating that you turn left and drive through the gate. Continue down the dirt road for about 0.35 miles and turn left; you will see the gathering area. Park to the right. Once at the site the owners request that no one leave until the next morning… e.g., no late night beer runs… So please bring whatever you need and plan on staying put until the next AM. Remember we need to be on the road the next day at 8AM. At this gathering we will have two presentations and you will be given more info. Also, you can buy a coastal guide book for about $40 authored by Professor Miles O. Hayes.
